Principal, Rocky Mountain Institute
Lena Hansen is a Principal with Rocky Mountain Institute’s electricity practice, where she has led work on resource planning, carbon strategy, demand-side resources, and variable renewable integration. Ms. Hansen’s research work focuses on RMI’s Next Generation Utility Initiative, which aims to drive the transformation of the electric system from fossil fuels to efficiency and renewables.
Most recently, she coauthored the electricity chapter of RMI’s book Reinventing Fire: Bold Business Solutions for a New Energy Era. Ms. Hansen holds a bachelor's degree in astrophysics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in environmental economics and policy from Duke University, with a focus on energy.
