Governor of New Jersey

Chris Christie has been governor of New Jersey since January 2010.  Previously, he was U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey. During his tenure, he drew national attention for his efforts in battling political corruption, corporate crime, human trafficking, gangs, terrorism and polluters; he also led an effort against public corruption, winning convictions or guilty pleas from over 130 public officials.

Born in Newark, N.J., and reared in Livingston, N.J., Gov. Christie has lived in the state his entire life, except to attend college. After graduating from the University of Delaware in 1984, Gov. Christie attended Seton Hall University School of Law, graduating in 1987. He then joined a Cranford, N.J., law firm, where he made partner. Gov. Christie was elected to the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders and served as director of that board in 1997. He and his wife of 25 years, Mary Pat, now reside in Mendham, N.J., where they are raising their four children, Andrew, Sarah, Patrick and Bridget.
