Dan Beyers is the founding editor of Capital Business, the Post's weekly local business newspaper. Prior to that, he was senior topic editor on The Washington Post's universal desk, overseeing coverage of business, health, science and environment issues both in the paper and online. A member of the Post staff for more than 20 years, he began his career at the paper as a Metro reporter covering government and schools in suburban Maryland before taking over as the state's politics and government editor. In 2000, he was named technology editor on the Business staff. He later served as the section's day editor, and then ran the paper's local business coverage until his current appointment. A lifelong resident of greater Washington, Dan served as city editor for a chain of daily newspapers in Northern Virginia before his arrival at The Post. He also was a reporter for the defense trade journal Defense News.
