The Business of the Beltway
May 18, 2010 - 12:00pm - 2:00pm |
Overview
Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell, White House economist Austan Goolsbee, Hilton Worldwide CEO Christopher Nassetta, and Pulitzer-prize winning Washington Post columnist Steven Pearlstein discussed the economic outlook nationally and for the Washington area. Washington weathered the Great Recession better than any other region. Has a robust recovery begun, or are we just the beneficiary of massive government stimulus that is about to wind down? What are the expectations for growth, development and jobs?
This group shared their insights and took questions from an audience of the region's most influential business leaders and CEOs. The panel's discussion was streamed live on washingtonpost.com. This event, attended by Publisher Katharine Weymouth and Executive Editor Marcus Brauchli, also marked the launch of Capital Business, the Post's new weekly publication edited by Dan Beyers that covers the greater Washington business community.
